For this contest: [link]
I'm so glad I managed to finish this. The contest theme was to draw a picture based on 1-3 words from a list of words. I was inspired by many of them, and ended up making at least four different pieces. This was the only one I managed to finish though. And I didn't finish it before I went on holiday so I had to bring it with me to Denmark, and scan it at the local library x3.

The word that inspired me to do this was the word 'connection'. It is a challenge for me to explain the link between that word and this picture properly. When I get an idea it is always a visual one, never one that can be explained or formulated with words. It is more like a feeling I want to express. This is also why I hate giving my pictures titles, because it is hard to find a word that describes the picture perfectly.

Sorry for rambling. Well, to the point.
The picture shows a girl and a beast. The beast is in rage, its muscles are bulging and its body is deformed. It also looks scared, and its claws and fangs are bared in fear. It looks chaotic. The girl, on the other hand, is very peaceful. Her skin is white with soft, indigo and pink shades. Her hair flows peacefully, and her whole shape expresses a feeling of calmness. The two are opposites, yet a part of the same being, connected by their heads. They are a symbol of the human mind, and its diversity. How we are seldom influenced by only one emotion, but are torn between conflicting feelings. Especially when we are faced with difficult decisions and stressful situations.

It also symbolizes how our personality is built up by many different aspects. What I mean, is that we may have sides that we don't usually show, or that we don't even know of. However, sometimes in certain situations, such sides might surface. These can be good as well as bad. In this picture though, I have chosen to focus on the latter. How even the sweetest and kindest person might have a darker side that is not usually seen.

The mirror symbolizes that discovering such sides of our personality can be unpleasant, and even frightening. The beast, or the bad side is scared of its own reflection, and tries to hide itself.

All in all, what I want to say with this picture, is that our personality and actions are influenced by many different aspects, and that these aspects are connected, so that they also influence each other.

Phew! Probably my longest comment ever :) I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain, I tried my best to describe my thoughts.

I didn't even need an explanation. You have all that word-thinking wrapped up exquisitely in the image. Great composition and use of color.
