My entry for the Yuumei-contest! c: This was very fun to do. I'm surprised that it came out so serious and 'deep' though x3. I usually choose a humorous approach to things, but in this case, where most of the other entries were humorous, I chose to do something serious for once c:

I wanted to do something different too. And since there were so many comics about the quirks of an artist, I wanted to do one that described the 'evolution of an artist'. I find it interesting how some people have always known that they wanted to be an artist (me for example x3) I wonder why this is. Why do some children become interested in art, while others don't?
I also find it intersting how you keep maturing as an artist as you get older. I don't know if you ever truly 'bloom' though, like in the comic. You keep evolving as long as you live. But i do believe there's a point in every artists life, where you figure out what you want to do, or get another kind of artistic revelation.

I hope you like this! Since it was so long, I had to spend less time on the art, and more time on actually getting it finished. I tried to let the style change bit as the main characters gets older though. It's more sketchy when she's young, and gets more mature as she gets older.

Even though the main characters is named Ida, it's not really me this comic is about. I'm still struggling with finding out were I want to go with my art. I hope that one day I will find out though c:

I'm sorry if there are any spelling mistakes in here. If you find any, please tell me! c: I'm also a bit unsure about the the word 'bloom', at the end of the comic. In norwegian, there's this word, 'blomstre', which means when a flower is fully matured, but can also be used to describe sometging else, like a person, who's finally... matured in something. In appearance for example. or art, music etc. I used google translate to find a similar word in english, but all it gave me was the word 'flourish', which I don't think is right. I searched for a better word, and found 'bloom'. what do yout think about this? Does it seem like the right word?

Like an artist by =JellyVampire is amazing. Beautiful, creative and well told, with excellent use of layout. The ending is just wonderful.

I've nothing to critizise about the story, only about the use of the word "anthropomorphic" to describe her artistic soul.
As far as I know, "anthropomorphic" means that something looks like a human / has a humanoid appearance. (I wrote this in a comment already, because I only saw afterward that I had the possibility to write a critique, sorry!)
I'm not sure what other term to use instead, but maybe "zoomorphic" works, it's meaning being looking animallike.

I have to tell you, in the first time, that your work made my eyes full of tears. The technique is nice, and sweet, and sure you know how to draw, and to use the right colours, and gives me this feeling to be in a fairy world. But the most important thing is that i think every child that dreams to become an artist have some kind of inner spirit guide. I tried to imagine it too, sometimes, but unluckyly it's not so clear in my mind, probably because my fears of failure and my convintion that there are so many people better than me 'blocked' in some way my faith in art. But art is so powerful that comes back to you, in some ways, and stays by your side, if you had put enough passion just once in your life.
Forgive my terrible english. I just want to say thank you, because this work made me remember when I was a child, and a young girl, then a highschool student, when I was sure I could make everything. Now I realize that is true, there are no borders. I hope I can fly someday, too.

Is this like a squirrel/dog/cat/llama/pegasus/something-with-a-supernatural-growth-rate? Because that's what that artistic ability character looks like.
