It's called "Runemarks" by Joanne Harris. It's about a girl with a runemark on her skin. Because of this she is able to cast runes and cantrips. The people of her vilage are afraid of her and don't treat her very well. She has only got one friend, a one-eyed journeyman... And in the course of the story she meets many gods that have been thought dead and even brings about the end of the world... I'm not sure how much real mythology really is in there But I love this book and I've read it many many times
Not quite... Fenrir is killed by Vidar, the strongest god after Thor. He tears Fenrir's jaws asunder, and survives Ragnarokk. Thor are too busy killing and being killed by the Midgard Serpent to avenge his father... :,(
I doubt it... Odin was questioning a dead Witch, and was very sorry to hear that all his favourite sons was to be killed before they was able to avenge him... I have heard none versions where Thor killed Fenrir... Ragnarok was one of the few "episodes" where Vidar played a major role, in that he killed the wolf nobody could kll. Do you remember where you heard your version?
It can't be... Thor was killed by the Serpent, Vidar destroyed Fenrir. At least, I am sure this was what the Volva told Odin. You may have heard different, you might have misunderstood your teacher, or I could just be very arrogant... But I am sure this was how it was to happen. I will not yield on this. But you can ofcourse just ignore me and go with your teacher's story. I'm afraid further arguing with me on this subject is pointless!
